May Minutes were approved.
Treasurer: No new report
Travel: Complaints about tryouts – parents thought board members who were present at Gr3/4 tryouts and who had children being assessed create unfair initial groupings. We will work to make sure that doesn’t happen in the future.
Girls Gr9/10 is in the playoffs, Gr7/8 team struggling, Gr 5/6 doing fine except C team, Gr3/4 all teams OK
Boys Gr7/8 may make playoffs, Gr5/6 A team struggling, others fine, Gr3/4 B team 0-7 so far, others OK
In-Town: U6 is getting caught up. U8 has had two Friday make-ups and 7 out of 8 games have been played.
Registrar: Registration is open but only 25 in so far. Late fees beginning July 1 – reminders will be sent.
NVYSL: Nothing new – fines discussed last meeting have not yet been appealed.
Referees: Going well – alerting refs to recert classes.
Fields: All fine now
Equipment: No report.
Snack Shack: Due to abbreviated season looking at about ½ of last year’s revenue.
New Business
World Cup – June 10 – Basically ready to go. Trophies in, Donelan’s ready, sound system w/ generator, parade will be around the baseball field starting at 10AM. Need to be off the fields on time due to town “track meet”
Coach News – Ted reported on a matrix coming out from MSYA on what should be coached at each level, more to come.
Realigning Gr3/4 to be primarily grade oriented: Very long discussion about changing current policy of placing kids on Gr3/4 teams based solely on the grading from tryouts and coaches’ evaluations.
Proposed to keep as is voted down 7-5. Proposed to group by grade, especially for the top teams, voted down 7-5
Compromise passed 12-0: “The travel director shall put together teams at the Gr3/4 level using coaches’ evaluations and tryouts and may also consider the player’s grade as a factor in placement at the Travel Director’s discretion.”
Basically gives TD discretion from using just numbers (where possible) so that one or two players from one class end up on a team off all older (or younger) players.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:20
