CORI FORMS
Coaches and assistant coaches need to fill out an online CORI application on the Mass Youth Soccer website. Only the initial application is needed; it is not necessary to resubmit for subsequent years of coaching.
In addition, Littleton Park & Rec would like to conduct a CORI check of their own. Coaches will need to fill out their form every three years and present photo identification (usually a driver's license). Recognizing that it may be difficult for soccer volunteers to visit the Park & Rec office during business hours, Gary Austin has also been certified to collect these CORI forms.
Useful Links For Coaches
Coaches may find some of the following links useful. These are a number of websites that contain information about how to go about teaching soccer to children. Several of the sites have collections of drills, arranged by age-group (the first two are excellent for this).
Many of the web links are from UK-based sites, so don't worry if you see the terms "football" and "soccer" interchanged.
Any questions, feel free to contact Ian Kersley (
). I'm also happy to try to help if you have specific questions or concerns regarding coaching a team.

Coaching Clinics
If you have not yet taken a coaching course, start with the MYSA G-level course. This is the foundation coaching course for all further MYSA qualifications. It deals with the basics of coaching children in soccer and offers excellent tips and guidelines for new coaches. There are also some fun drills that you can use with your own teams.
To participate in a coaching course, please sign up online. Remember to save the confirmation email, as well as the relevant credit-card statement showing your registration fee. You can then reclaim the cost of the course ($30.00 for the G). Sign up via the Mass Youth Soccer website:

Pee Wee Reference Tips
The Pee Wee program is held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 -11:00 am.
The season lasts 8 weeks.
The first half hour is practice and drills.
Then, there is a 5-10 minute break often with oranges or fruit with some water.
Then, there is a 20-25 minute game with another team. Play is normally 3v3, but could be 4 v 4 if teams of 7-8 are involved.
There is no referee, the coaches act as the referees.
There is no official score.
When the ball leaves the field of play, one of the coaches announces to stop play.
The coach then conducts an informal restart. There are no corner kicks, goal kicks or throw ins.
Following a goal, there is another kickoff at mid field.
Substitutions can be made freely at any time.
Players should bring a #3 ball, a water bottle, cleats and shin pads each Saturday.
All players should get equal playing time.
Ball control is the key skill we want the kids to develop. Passing isnʼt something to focus on at this age.
