In Town Report
IN TOWN (ACADEMY)
There is nothing to report everything is going well.
U8 – There were not enough coaches to host BEST clinic in the fall it will be rescheduled for the spring season
There was an issue with parents/coaches swapping players with another team without the coordinators approval. This was not noticed until the 1st week of the season and per the coordinator teams were left as is for the remainder of the season. The board agreed that due to this infraction that the coaches should not be allowed to coach again.
Travel Report
There were 9 TBD’s that need to be rescheduled due to the weather and field closures. The travel director will send a note out to all travel coaches stating that if Littleton fields are closed and the opposing team has an open field that the game is to be played at that field on the scheduled day.
There were no mid season moves up or down for Littleton teams
Registrar
The new fees will be instituted for the spring season. A note will be sent out prior to the opening of spring registration (10/15) explaining the increase
Referees
There are 4 new referees that have not signed up for any game observations. Most senior referees have already worked 2 games.
There were a few incidents that occurred at U8 games with referees and coaches. In one game where there was rough game between the teams and the referee wanted a player to sit. They spoke to the coach who took exception and felt that the referee should have spoken to the player. In another instance the coaches were over ruling the referee on out of bound call and throw ins. The referee became upset and stated that they didn’t want to referee with those coaches on the field again.
The in town referee coordinator has been split between fields during these times and it has been hard for him to intervene in these instances, so for the remaining of the season the travel director will has volunteered to assist at the games.
In town referee coordinator will send out a note detailing his expectations of the coaches
NVYSL
There are a lot of mid season moves throughout the league due to there being no competition committee. The competition committee will be active in the spring.
Snack Shack
The new refrigerator is in and working. The snack shack brought in about $500 to date. LELD approved the installation of water bottle filler at the snack shack.
Coaches Development
Jenna to set up an “F” license class for coaches
Fields
In the event of bad weather a question arose to see if the travel fields can be checked more than once. This might alleviate some of the game reschedules if the fields are deemed playable in the afternoon
New Business
Scholarships – There were 14 players who received these in the fall which enabled them to play without having to pay. The board decided that in order to receive this benefit a family’s income must fall below $60K all necessary paperwork must be filled out and verified by park and rec department. [Addendum: 1 person dissented on the board’s decision that in order to receive a scholarship that a family’s income must fall below $60K.]
